Post Question on lighting this thing up.
The old Step Father is out of touch with the times and new technology, last thing I hear was some strange mumbling about dang kids now a days and their new technology.

Anyhow, I need to do a lighted sign. I am thinking of using 3528 water proof flexible LED strips.

I took the letter and off set the profile of the letter by 1/4" this will give me a 1/8" glow line all the way around the letter. I cut the off set letter out of 3/8" acrylic. then pocket in a space for the strip. two mounting holes to screw it through the face of the sign into the dibond swiss cheese insert. So I use GE silicone #1 and glue the acrylic to the sign and use two screws also then lay in the led strip and using silicone again, glue the letter on top to water proof it future and glue the HDU letter to the acrylic. When power is supplied, the light travels through the acrylic and creates a rather bright glow line.

I want it to glow like the edge lit acrylic stuff.

That ain't Minnesotan, TR, it's Greek, as in "it's all.....". I suggest the Kid from Cartwright answer this one. Git on 'er, Darcy, you're the reigning expert on this stuff.

Murray, Patrick is way ahead of me on this one but he explained it on the phone. it makes sense now.

The sign it's going on has a shadow behind the prismatic letter. He's routing a pocket into that shadow that will hold a clear acrylic outline of the letter, which will be invisible in the daytime. The letter mounts over top of the acrylic.
This acrylic will have LEDs in there somewhere which will give a "glow line" around the letter at night.

Got it! It ain't Greek after all. LEDs are something with which I fondly hope I will never achieve familiarity, although I can appreciate their utilization.
