The Living Sky Letterheads are a group of Canadian Sign Artists from the Prairie Provinces and beyond.
Informally formed in 2004 at the "Living Sky Letterhead Meet" in Regina, they have
formed close friendships and are a source of fellowship, support and information for each other as
well as others in the sign trade and related fields.
Welcome to the Living Sky Letterheads Website.
This page is dedicated to the
"Letterheads on the Loose in Little Chicago"
meet that will take place in
Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada
July 4th to 8th, 2007
We have opened a
forum
to facilitate communication between the Moose Jaw and Letterhead
Communities. We hope you'll take advantage of it to answer any questions you may have of each
other and to get to know what the other half of this venture is about. Feel welcome to drop in and
chat, share stories be they relevant to the meet or not. Please use the link on the left side of the
page to access it. As we move forward with our plans we will be adding additional links for
registration information, maps, accomodations, program information and whatever else comes up.
The idea for this meet first took root in the spring
of 2005. Since then we have been working in conjunction with the Moose Jaw Murals Board and the city
of Moose Jaw to put together an event that shows promise of being a wonderful collaboration of historic
culture and artistic interpretation.
Rather than hosting a Walldog, Letterhead or Pinstripers meet we decided to throw a hybrid event with
something for everyone. Plans include 5 historical murals with some very talented and personable project
leaders (to be announced shortly!). Also on the books are a project that will see the Saskatchewan
Burrowing Owl Interpretive Centre decked out with some well needed carved signs led by our own Rodger
MacMunn, and a freshly restored 1915 REO Speedwagon Fire Truck requiring over 150 feet of striping and
gold leaf along with 24 replica 23K gold gelatin transfer decals. In addition to this there will be the
traditional panel jam area, seminars and fellowship.
Sound like fun? That's not all folks, Moose Jaw is a
city that has a rich heritage and culture. Come discover the historical tunnels that connect the downtown
core and learn the history of the chinese immigrants who built them and the gangsters who absconded them
during prohibition. Check out the dozens of ghost signs in the downtown and industrial sections. Hop the
historical trolley cars for a tour of the 39 existing murals. Visit the Temple Gardens Mineral Spa or
Casino Moose Jaw. Visit the ship that was built in the middle of the prairies and the museum which explains the story behind it.
Experience the beauty of the cities architecture.
Moose Jaw was recently designated as a 2007 Cultural
Center of Canada. Discover for yourselves the magical charm of the little city on the prairies.
